Why is my file barely smaller?
A PDF that is mostly text is already compact. Most of the savings come from images, so text-only files change very little.
Will the text stay selectable?
Yes with Auto and Lossless. Rasterise turns pages into images, so run OCR afterwards if you need selectable text.
